“Remain in me and I will remain in you. A branch cannot bear fruit by itself, it must remain in the vine. In the same way you cannot produce fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine. You are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will produce much fruit, but apart from me you can do nothing. If a man does not remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.” —John 15:4–6
We will cover this message more fully during the “Abide” week, but it is also foundational to walking in truth. Jesus says we must remain in him to bear fruit. The danger is real: busyness, distractions, trials, and even good things can subtly draw us away from God.
When we stop walking in the truth, we drift toward darkness. Over time, that darkness can lead us into sin. Staying in the truth—abiding in Jesus—is the only way to live a fruitful, joy-filled life that pleases God.
