The L2J Discipleship Journey

1: LEARN
Start with Listening to Jesus - Foundations (12 weeks). Build the biblical foundation and daily habits for hearing God’s voice and repsonding to His leadership

2: LISTEN
Continue on with Listening to Jesus - Reflections (24 weeks). Develop a lifelong rhythm of listening and obeying through the complete teachings of Jesus

3: LEAD
Through Listening to Jesus groups (called Spotfires), teach someone else to hear Jesus, obey his voice and become a disciple who makes disciples

Getting Started:
Whether you are just beginning your walk with Christ or seeking to deepen a lifetime of discipleship, we recommend starting with Listening to Jesus - Foundations. Begin by making this a daily rhythm—not simply another study to complete.

Each day, you’ll read a portion of Jesus’ teachings, reflect on them through a series of questions, and invite the Holy Spirit to show you how Jesus wants you to apply His words to your life today. Along the way, you’ll also learn tSOAR, an engagement framework designed to help you remember the basic categories of Jesus’ teachings and reflect on how each area is shaping your personal discipleship journey.

The goal is not simply to gain more biblical knowledge, but to hear Jesus’ voice, recognize how He is leading you, and respond through obedience.

At the end of each week, take time to review what Jesus has been teaching you. Notice recurring themes, answered prayers, areas of growth, and places where he continues to invite deeper trust. These regular moments of reflection help you recognize God's ongoing work and strengthen your confidence in following his leading.

What is a Spotfire?
A Spotfire is a small group of people learning to listen to Jesus together—and helping one another respond in obedience. This is where multiplication comes in. As people learn to listen and obey Jesus, they learn to help others do the same. Many people start Foundations or Reflections in a group led by someone else, and then go on to lead their own Spotfire with people new to the Listening to Jesus journey.

Things to keep in mind:
Journaling is an essential part of this process. While each book provides space for written reflections, you may find it helpful to keep a separate journal as well. Recording what you sense Jesus saying helps you slow down, process his direction more clearly, and remember what he is teaching you over time. As Jesus reveals specific ways he is inviting you to respond—in your relationships, work, ministry, or daily decisions—write them down. Your journal becomes both a record of God's faithfulness and a practical, Spirit-led "to-do" list of obedience.

Most importantly, remember that Listening to Jesus is not a program to finish, but a lifelong way of walking with Christ. The same three review questions can become a daily habit that keeps you attentive to his voice through every season of life. As you continue listening and obeying, you'll discover that Jesus is faithfully leading you into the good works the Father has prepared for you (Ephesians 2:10).

May this journey help you discover what countless followers of Jesus have found throughout history: he is still speaking through his Word, still present by his Spirit, and still leading those who choose to listen. Whether you walk through this journey on your own or alongside others in a Spotfire group, the invitation remains the same: listen to Jesus, trust his voice, and respond with joyful obedience.
