Listening to Jesus
Listening to Jesus is a simple, reproducible discipleship practice.
It starts by establishing a daily rhythm of following Christ by intentionally listening to his teachings and commands, and responding in obedience.
It then leads to discipling others in community in groups called Spotfires. A Spotfire is a small group of people learning to listen to Jesus together—and helping one another respond in obedience. As people learn to listen and obey Jesus, they learn to help others do the same.
Rooted in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18–20), it embraces not only Jesus' call to make disciples but also his invitation to “…teach them to obey everything I have commanded you” and his promise to be with us always.
Rather than something to complete and set aside, Listening to Jesus is a lifelong practice. Focusing on Jesus’ teachings, along with an engagement framework (tSOAR) and daily review questions, it serves as an anchor helping you stay aligned with Jesus’ voice in every season of life.
More than just a set of practices and resources, Listening to Jesus is also a growing global movement, with communities in more than 25 countries using the materials in a variety of settings (individuals, small groups, churches, etc.)

About the author
The Listening to Jesus devotional materials were created by Joe Williamson. Joe would describe himself as an unlikely catalyst for a global discipleship movement, since he’s not a pastor, missionary, or celebrity preacher.
He’s a financial advisor from Indiana who simply made a daily decision to sit with the teachings of Jesus, listen for His voice, and obey whatever He asked. What began as a quiet personal practice eventually became a simple discipleship tool now used by thousands of pastors and leaders across Africa. Through ordinary people willing to “listen and obey,” lives, families, and entire communities are being transformed.
Joe’s simple framework, centered on Christ’s teachings, has been replicated in over 25 countries, impacting hundreds of thousands of lives.

Learn the story behind the movement. This documentary explores the surprising power of simple obedience — and asks a challenging question:
What if Jesus still speaks and leads ordinary people today the same way He did 2,000 years ago?
