On the day God delivered the Amorites to the children of Israel, Joshua stood in the presence of Israel and said, “Sun, stand still on Gibeon! Moon, stop in the valley of Aijalon!”
The sun stood still, and the moon stayed until the nation had defeated its enemies. The sun stayed in the sky and didn’t go down for a whole day. —Josh. 10:12–13
“For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” —Matt. 17:20
God doesn’t call us to do what we can do in our own strength. He calls us to do what only he can accomplish through us.
Joshua prayed for the sun to stand still—an unthinkable request. But because he was walking in obedience and dependence, God honored his bold faith. When we walk in God’s calling and quest, he may lead us into situations that require supernatural intervention. When that happens, don’t shrink back—step forward in trust.
If God commands it, he will enable it.
