“After a long time the lord of those servants came, and settled accounts with them. He who received the five coins came and brought another five coins, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five coins. I have gained another five coins in addition to them.’
His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things; I will set you over many things.’” —Matthew 25:19–21
We must learn to be faithful to the Lord’s call on our lives through consistent obedience. As we learn to tune in and hear him speaking to us, our perspective changes. We begin to see every place—home, work, ministry—as our mission field. Our only true job description and purpose in life is “disciple of Jesus Christ.” Wherever we are and whatever we find ourselves doing—that is our ministry.
Reflection Questions
Have you begun to see that you are called to ministry as a disciple at all times and in all places?
When is it most apparent?
When is it least apparent?
Lord, what are you teaching me in today’s reading?
Lord, what else have you said to me through thoughts, circumstances, conversations, emotions, or the work of the enemy?
Lord, what do you want me to do: At home? At work? In ministry?
