When he got into a boat, his disciples followed him. A violent storm arose so that the boat was covered with the waves, but Jesus was asleep. They woke him saying, “Save us, Lord! We are dying!”

He said to them, Why are you afraid? You don’t have enough faith.” Then he got up and commanded the wind and the sea, and it became completely calm.

The men were amazed and said, “What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the waves obey him?” —Matt. 8:23–27

Life’s storms come without warning. Like the disciples, our first response is often fear, not faith. But Jesus questioned their fear because he was with them all along. He was not surprised by the storm—and he is never surprised by ours.

Trust means remembering that God is always present, even when he seems silent. Every storm in life is an invitation to grow in faith and ask, “Lord, what are you saying to me through this?”
